2016 Reunion – Jacksonville

The USS Rankin Association's Thirteenth Annual Reunion was held in Jacksonville, Florida, from September 22-25, 2016. Reunion Headquarters was the Doubletree by Hilton Jacksonville Riverfront. The reunion ran from Thursday through Sunday, with a banquet on Sunday night.
The USS Yancey (AKA-93) reunion group joined us at this reunion, as they did in 2014 and 2015. Total attendance was 49 from the Rankin and 19 from the Yancey, for a total of 68 people. Everybody enjoyed themselves, especially in our well-stocked hospitality suite.

If you've never been to Jacksonville, you can watch this three-minute video to see what you've missed...
Here's a beautiful two-minute show of downtown Jax by night. The big blue bridge over the St. Johns River is very close to our hotel. Walking over it takes about 20 minutes, or you can take a water taxi. The distinctively-shaped Wells Fargo building is right across the river from the hotel...
And watch this nice five-minute tour of St. Augustine, 40 miles south of Jacksonville, and the nation's oldest city (established 1565).

Skip Sander made a site visit to Jacksonville & St. Augustine in March, 2016. These are pictures from that trip. The trip was strictly personal—no USS Rankin funds were used.
