Barney Meyer was Commanding Officer of the USS Rankin from 1952-1953.
World War II veteran Bernard Meyer, 94, of Marietta, Georgia, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna, with Dr. Steve Kimmel officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Mr. Meyer served in the Navy during World War II. He was employed by Lockheed. Survivors include one son, Bob Meyer of Duluth; one daughter, Sharon Long of Marietta; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
