About These Photographs
Having been "put in mothballs" after WWII, USS Rankin was recommissioned at Alameda, California in March 1952.
FT3 Robert Smith, a member of the recommissioning crew, took these photos of the ship's outfitting, shakedown, and first cruise from California through the Panama Canal to Norfolk, Labrador, and New York City.
